Brau Beviale 2008

When I attended the Brau Beviale in Nürenberg this year I had some appointments. I met a CEO of a porcelain company which basically manufactures the porcelain clips of clip clop bottles and had some chat about corporate and website design. We went on...

We went on to Caspary. They supply and manufacture small scale brewing plants equipped with automation systems. The brewer I mostly consult bought a used Caspary from another brewery. It was important to get some information about the used automation system. But the system the used brewing plant comes with is from 1977 and is outdated. Therefore it is not possible to upgrade to modern automation in a cheap way. At Caspary Ciulan met an old colleague who’s having a brewery in Austria. He is running one of the few Demeter certified breweries. The design of his bottle labels is a basic one and is hopefully going to be extended. The new European organic logo was still missing.

Another point of interested was a one way keg system. I’m not a friend of one way systems and was therefore looking for an environmental friendly system. The one which was probably the best one was a 5 liter keg which is tabbed with a special system. The keg, even if it is printed, is very cheap and even with the investment costs for the tabbing machine cheaper than for example self cooled kegs. The 3rd idea was the usage of KeyKegs which will come in a 10 liter version next year. They showed us a prototype of this 10l version.

Bottle suppliers for special bottles where spotted by us as well. There was one company showing a very special one which I have never seen before. I’m now on the net to find the manufacturer.

At the end I met some old VLB brew master colleagues whose were having a drink at Weyerman. At Symrise I spotted Prof. Stahl. Mr. Kunze and former Prof. Wackerbauer were seen as well.
